He then moved to Mansfield Town, on the recommendation of Mansfield assistant.

16 March 2023 The club can now confirm funeral arrangements for one of its greatest ever players, Kevin Bird. The legendary Stags' defender passed away recently at the age of 70. Kevin's funeral will take place at Mansfield Crematorium at 11.15am on Friday 17 March.

16 February 2023 Remembering one of the club's greatest ever players, Kevin Bird, who has died aged 70. Kevin was born in Armthorpe, near Doncaster, on 07 August 1952. He started his career with his home town club, Doncaster Rovers, but was not retained in the summer of 1972.
