Yan Pei Ming
Yan Pei-Ming (Chinese: 严培明; pinyin: Yán Péimíng), born 1 December 1960, is a Chinese painter.Since 1981 he has been living in Dijon, France.His most famous paintings are "epic-sized" portraits of Mao Zedong worked out in black and white or red and white. He works with big brushes, and his paintings are brought to life by the rapid brush strokes which structure the picture space.

Yan Pei-Ming was born into a working-class family in Shanghai in 1960 and grew up during the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976). His artistic talents soon got him noticed, but he was rejected at the Shanghai Art & Design School and, in his twenties, emigrated to France, enrolling at the École des Beaux-Arts in Dijon in 1981 and later attending the Institut des Hautes études en Arts plastiques.
