What's more fun than making a craft to go along with a fun story? Making a craft that you can play with afterwards! That's just what we did last week after re-reading Jack and the Beanstalk again. It has quickly become one of little man's favorite stories and since he loves it so much, we decided to have a little more fun with it and create a beanstalk of our very own.
Beanstalk Craft
Another fun way to retell Jack and the Beanstalk is by breaking it down into events from the beginning, middle, and end of the story. Students can assemble this 3D craft and refer to it when retelling the fairy tale. Real vs. Fantasy. Understanding the difference between reality and fantasy is an important comprehension skill for young learners.

Roll green construction paper to form beanstalk base and glue in the middle of white paper. Cut out and color in the castle printable (download it above.) Glue finished castle to very top of beanstalk (rolled up construction paper.)

Jack and the Beanstalk was a super fun story to craft and play out. If you aren't familiar with the story, there is a video below that you can watch first. A note about the printable - the beanstalk is tricky to color and cut out. Lorelai basically colored the entire area green, then went back with a marker to color in certain vines/leaves.
