Mount Piddington Blue Mountains National Park BeyondTracks

Mount Piddington Lookout NSW Government

It's located at Mount Piddington in Mount Victoria, and there are a couple of other trails in the area. Cox's Cave is was a sort of hidden gem where I couldn't find much more information than a blog post - but the blog post I did find on the Walk My World blog was extremely detailed and helpful. They also got a couple of better photos.

The first route at Mt Piddington, and still one of the best. If you're at this end of the crag at the end of the day this route is a nice way to significantly shorten the walk out. It's not too hard to climb it with packs on, then do a 200m bush bash due east along the ridge to the firetrail. Start 17m left of 'Infidel' opposite the Cottage Boulder. It is the left most route on the slab. Now.

Surmounting Mount Piddington Road and passing other streets, we reached Fairy Bower Reserve/Mount Piddington which was the starting point for the trek; situated on a lonesome hill. At the starting point of the hike, there were blue signs indicating which paths to take and in this case, turning left to the sign will lead us to Fairy Bower.

The trail begins from the Mount Piddington car park, on the opposite side to the one that leads to Coxs Cave. You won't see Bushrangers Cave signposted at first, but you will see Witches Glen and Pulpit Rock and that's where you'll be heading first. The trail takes you straight into the bush as you begin descending on a narrow dirt path.

The walk to Mount Piddington can be as easy as you want and as hard. Of course, we chose the harder option and got lost at some hairy looking rock foundations on a path barely 1m wide and about 60m drop.. Below are a few images from the treck to Mount Piddington in the village of Mount Victoria in the Blue Mountains. August 18, 2018 / by Jay.
